Rooster Privacy Policy

We take the privacy of your personal information very seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we treat the information we collect when you sign up for Rooster. Please read this policy carefully, along with the Terms of Use.

Your Personal Information

When you interact with us, we ask you to supply us with personal information so that we can provide, enhance and personalize our services and marketing efforts. We use this personal information for various reasons, including to process your registration, your orders and your payments, and to communicate on these and other topics. For example, we may use your email address or other methods to send newsletters, messages about new Rooster features, Rooster special offers, promotional announcements, consumer surveys, and other correspondence and marketing concerning our service. If you no longer want to receive certain communications from us via email, simply uncheck the "email me" box in the "Your Account" page of our website, or click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email. Please note that you cannot unsubscribe from certain correspondence from us, including messages relating to your account transactions.

Rooster will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes without your express permission.

Rooster does not collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided Rooster with personally identifiable information without the consent of his or her parent or guardian, please contact us. If Rooster becomes aware that a child under age 13 has provided us with personally identifiable information, we will delete such information.

We currently process the sending of Rooster emails through a third party email provider (SendGrid). We need to share your email address with this third party provider exclusively for the purpose of delivering our email.

We may also disclose your email address as required by law.

Billing Information

Membership in Rooster requires payment via credit card. In order to process the payment we need billing information, including your name, credit card number, credit card expiration date, mailing address, and your card security code. We currently use a third party (Stripe) to process and store this information. We need to share your billing information with this third party provider in order to process and store your billing information, but we will share this information exclusively for this purpose.

Rooster will never sell or rent your billing information to third parties. We will not share your billing information with third parties other than for purposes of processing the card transaction.

We may disclose your billing information as required by law.

Usage Information And Optional Personal Information

Rooster keeps track of your subscriptions, including which books you are reading and how far along you are with these.

Any other information we ask for is entirely optional.

Rooster will never sell, rent or share your usage and personal information, with any third parties for marketing purposes without your express permission.

We may however share this information in anonymous, aggregate form. Anonymous means without your email address or any other information that personally identifies you. Aggregate means added, averaged or otherwise combined across a number of users so as to prevent identification of individual users.

We may also disclose this information as required by law.

Review And Access

Upon your request, we will provide you with a representation of the information we have currently stored about you. You will have an opportunity to correct or delete this information within the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you would like to request a representation of this information, write to us.


Like most sites, Rooster makes use of browser "cookies." Cookies are small text files placed on your computer's hard disk by our server. They allow us to better customize our site and to store preference information. Rooster will never use cookies to retrieve information from a computer that is unrelated to our site or services.


Rooster is serious about your security and uses reasonable administrative, technical, physical and managerial measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that any security system is 100% secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of your information and cannot assume liability for improper access to it. By using our service, including our website and user interfaces, or providing information to us through any means, you agree that we can communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy, and administrative issues relating to your use of Rooster.

In order to provide you with ease of access to your account and to help administer Rooster, Rooster implements technology that enables us to recognize you as the account holder and provide you with direct access to your account without requiring you to retype any password or other user identification when you revisit Rooster. You can choose not to take advantage of this feature on your computer by unchecking the box "Remember me on this computer" when you login on the website. To remove access to your Rooster account from your devices delete your Rooster settings from your device (steps vary by device and the option is not available on all devices). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account access information and for restricting access to your computer or device through which you access your Rooster account. Where possible, users of public or shared devices should log out at the completion of each visit. If you sell or return a computer or mobile device, you should log-out before doing so. If you do not maintain the security of your password or fail to log out, subsequent users may be able to access your account, including your personal information.

Links To Other Sites

As part of the service, Rooster may create links allowing you to access third party sites. Rooster is not responsible for the content that appears on those sites and does not endorse these sites. Please consult those sites' individual privacy policies in order to determine how they treat user information.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

Rooster may update this policy at any time for any reason. If there are any material changes to how we handle personal information we will send a notice to your email address and/or temporarily place a prominent notice on our website.
